It’s been a little over three years since COVID-19 broke out, inflicting unprecedented economic and social upheaval around the world. Although much of the hubbub surrounding the disease has died down and things are back to normal, our state leaders are still fighting the good fight, ensuring that Florida and its citizens stay free.
At a press conference earlier this week, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that he’s pursing a permanent ban on COVID-19 vaccines and masks in efforts to protect Floridians from the “biomedical security state” perpetuated by the medical establishment, leftist media, and Biden Administration. He was accompanied by Rep. Neal Dunn, CFO Jimmy Patronis, and Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo.
“When the world lost its mind, Florida was a refuge of sanity, serving strongly as freedom’s linchpin,” said Governor Ron DeSantis in a press release. “These measures will ensure Florida remains this way and will provide landmark protections for free speech for medical practitioners.”
Once DeSantis’ initiative is approved by the legislature, both public and private sectors will be prohibited from discriminatory firing and hiring based on an employee’s or applicant’s vaccination status. The press release issued by the governor’s office described the details of DeSantis’ “Prescribe Freedom” proposal. The nuts and bolts of his plan include:
• Permanently prohibiting COVID-19 vaccine passports in Florida;
• Permanently prohibiting COVID-19 vaccine and mask requirements in all Florida schools;
• Permanently prohibiting COVID-19 masking requirements at businesses; and
• Permanently prohibiting employers from hiring or firing based on mRNA jabs.
His plan also protects our medical professionals’ freedom of speech, protecting their rights to disagree with the preferred narrative of the medical community and protecting religious views.
Governor DeSantis is taking the necessary steps to protect citizens from excessive power from government and big business. This initiative reminds us of the importance of individual freedom and the implications of government overreach. And this isn’t the first time he has fought to make Florida the freest state in the nation. In 2021, Gov. DeSantis approved legislation protecting employees from mandates and supporting parental rights when it comes to their student’s healthcare needs.
Governor Ron DeSantis’ statement reassured Floridians that he’s not wavering in his commitment to freedom. He has promised to fight against any local government or business that tries to implement unconstitutional COVID-19 policies.
With state leaders like Governor DeSantis, CFO Jimmy Patronis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo in charge, we can be confident that Florida is in good hands. Hands that will fight for freedom at all costs and defend the values our nation was founded on, “freedom and justice for all."
